About the Artist

I was born and raised in Elizabeth, a small town in western Pennsylvania.  In 1972, I married Mark and spent the next eight years sharing him with the Air Force.  During that time, we lived in a number of beautiful areas of the country, including Alabama, California, upstate New York, and New Mexico.

In 1980, Mark left the military for commercial flying, and I finished up my college degree at New Mexico State University.  As luck would have it, we ended up back in Pennsylvania again, but this time at the other end of the state, in beautiful Bucks County.  Over the course of the next 20-plus years, I continued my schooling, enjoyed a rewarding career as a software engineer, and raised several "children" of the 4-legged variety, primarily Alaskan Malamutes.

Having been born and raised in Pennsylvania and settling here again in the early 1980's, both Mark and I were heavily influenced by Pennsylvania's strong colonial heritage, especially the art of quiltmaking.  Inspired by the quilts of our local Amish and Mennonite communities, as well as those of other traditional American quiltmakers, I began making my own quilts in 1997.  My busy career prevented me from spending too much time on them, but I did somehow manage to fill the house with quilts.

In 2002, I decided to leave the software industry and focus all of my attention on quiltmaking.  A year later, with the wonderful encouragement of both family and friends, I launched Redbud Ridge Quilts.  The name comes from our favorite tree, the Redbud.  We live on several acres in the country and have planted them all over our property.  In the Spring, we get an explosion of color from the Redbuds, providing endless inspiration for my quilts.
